In a tumultuous, fragile and often fickle world, God is our peace. Jesus – the Person of peace – has come to give us ‘shalom’ – an existence where nothing is missing, nothing broken.

We can have peace that is beyond our understanding, no matter what is happening around us. This is the inheritance of every believer, to live and walk in peace – a peace that was won for us on the cross.

Pray for the ‘Healing Hearts, Transforming Nations’ workshops in South Sudan which are being run in more than ten communities. Pray there will be continued healing within and between estranged communities.
Pray too for peace and reconciliation between communities, for hearts to be transformed, and for forgiveness to replace fear and distrust.
Pray for refugees in the Bidibidi settlement in Uganda, the second biggest refugee camp in the world. MAF has been partnering with Brass for Africa, a music initiative that helps people overcome the horrors of war through community and music. To combat the many cases of male suicide in the settlement, Brass for Africa seeks to help people overcome trauma, with the suicide rate now falling. Pray that men in the camp will come to know the peace of God, with the love of God bringing healing to even the most broken. Pray that instances of suicide will stop because the ‘shalom’ of God is in the camp!

A prayer for Madagascar

Today, let’s lift up our Madagascar programme and its 3 aircraft and 24 staff. We pray for a country that has been affected by repeated natural disasters and ask for You to bring peace and stability to its most vulnerable communities. We pray too that the country’s poor infrastructure, education, health provision and lack of social support will dramatically improve. We also pray for integrity in government and for godly wisdom for everyone in power. May literacy rates increase as a new generation of Malagasy children grow up. May everyone know the ‘shalom’ of God in this, one of the world’s poorest countries.
