El-Roi – The God Who Sees Me

God sees every detail of our lives. Unfortunately, there’s a temptation to feel that God is so concerned with the wider issues confronting our troubled world that He doesn’t have the time or the inclination to be concerned about the things we hold dear, the day-to-day decisions we must make, or the joys and heartaches we encounter.

The stories in the Bible demonstrate time and time again that God is interested in the details of our lives, even if they might seem small and insignificant to others. The story of the handmaiden Hagar reveals this in the most stunning way. Destitute and alone in the desert, she declares in Genesis 16:13, ‘“You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”’

Pray for MAF’s young adult ministry, Co-Pilot. Co-Pilot exists to build a passionate community of young people who want to make a difference in the world. Our dream is that our Co-Pilot community will raise up the next generation of overseas missionaries. Whether that’s pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, programme directors or many other important roles, pray today that young people will know that God sees them and is orchestrating their futures so He might be glorified through them.

Pray for women and children in the remote locations we serve – many of whom are often maligned or go unnoticed. Pray that, through the work of MAF and our partner organisations, both would feel seen, and their status elevated. We particularly pray for access to maternity care and sanitary products so that women feel empowered and have their dignity restored.

Let’s also pray a blessing over the menstrual health initiatives in Telofomin, Papua New Guinea. Pray that this grassroots initiative will prosper and grow so that every young woman will have the education and help she needs and will know that they are important and seen.

A prayer for Guinea

Today we lift up Guinea, one of our newest programmes. We thank You for our 8 staff and 11 landing strips that enable us to serve the country’s people. We know that Guinea is one of the poorest countries in the world and pray that the communities we serve will know they are ‘seen’ by a loving God who cares about them. We pray for an end to extreme poverty and that the government will rule with integrity and wisdom. We pray for education and health to improve and increase in the communities we serve. We pray too that the young people in this nation will have a sense of purpose and know that they’ve been created by a loving God.
