Yahweh-Jireh – The Lord Will Provide

This beautiful description of God is first seen in Genesis when God provides a ram in the thicket so it can take the place of Abraham’s precious son. Abraham calls that place ‘The LORD Will Provide’. In times of uncertainty, an understanding of the name Jehovah-Jireh offers profound comfort.

Whether we face personal challenges or broader societal issues, knowing that God is aware of our needs and is actively providing for them can bring peace to anxious hearts. MAF personnel have experienced God’s provision in many ways – through unexpected financial blessings, mutually beneficial relationships and through doors opening and closing. Experiences such as these remind us that God’s provision often comes in ways that we don’t necessarily anticipate.

Pray that MAF will have a consistent stream of new supporters in a time of ever-increasing aviation costs. Pray that God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Despite the UK cost of living crisis, pray that God will put MAF on the hearts of many and that our finances will flourish despite the challenges.

Pray for us to be able to recruit trained teachers to serve overseas. At present, we have a shortage of teachers in Papua New Guinea and South Sudan. Having teachers there is essential if the children of our overseas staff are to get a good standard of education. Pray that God will ignite the heart of teachers for both mission and education.

Finally, let’s pray for all our personnel needs. We particularly need pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers. Lift to the Lord the complexities surrounding the length of training and the cost of training the aviation professionals He calls, asking Him to open the windows of heaven.

A prayer for Chad

Today, we lift up our programme in Chad. We thank You that we’ve had the privilege of serving Chad’s people since 1966. We thank You that we have built partnerships with missionaries, relief and development agencies, and local churches. We thank You for our fleet of 2 planes and 18 staff members – may You meet all their needs. We pray that Chad’s government will have strategies to meet the healthcare and education needs of its people. Show Your abundant provision to every isolated community in the country, and may they come to know You as Jehovah-Jireh, their provider.
