Abba-Father

‘Pray then like this: “Our Father [Abba] in heaven, hallowed be Your name.’

Matthew 6:9

Abba is an Aramaic word that means Father. It’s a term Jesus used to address God. It speaks of warm affection, intimacy, and loving respect towards one’s father. Jesus instructed us to come to God using the same term. This is a demonstration of our sonship and because we are adopted into God’s family, we are coheirs with Christ and can come to God in the same way that Jesus did.

The term Abba reminds us that, as a loving Father, God is mindful of our needs and cares about every aspect of our lives. Today, let’s bring to Him some of the needs of those who work in MAF’s overseas programmes.

A prayer for Arnhem Land

Today, we lift up Arnhem Land. We thank You that we have had the privilege of serving this country since 1973. We give thanks for the team of 24 people serving many isolated people and pray they will be filled with the love of God.

We ask Your blessing on every flight that aids the church or helps provide health and education. We thank You for MAF’s fleet of eight planes and pray that every person who steps on a plane will know the love of Father God.

We pray that the land will be fruitful for the communities that live there. We pray that many Indigenous people will come to know Christ.
