Stephanie Chew

Having an appetite for adventure, I went on a short-term mission to Nicaragua and Guatemala during my university years and I loved every bit of it. This cemented my passion for missions, placing a desire to go to long-term missions one day.

I grew up in London to Malaysian Chinese parents. From 12 years old, I started to attend church as my parents gave their lives to Christ after going to a Chinese Alpha course. After graduating at Edinburgh University, I was a social worker for three years and then was a flight attendant for British Airways.

I discovered MAF in 2025 when a friend mentioned MAF in our conversation, expressing that I should work with them given my experience in flying. This led me to go on MAF’s website to find out their work, and I fell in love with what they do. I did a quick browse of the job opportunities and none of them were suitable for me. Then I saw they have training schemes for aspiring Pilots and Aircraft engineers, flying with a meaningful purpose in the mission field in dangerous places.

So, with that in mind, I applied for the Future Pilot Programme (FPP) but God had other plans, and I was accepted into the Engineering Training Scheme – which was even better as God led me to a role which brought together the world of missions and aviation, as well as my distant dream of becoming a car mechanic. As they say, if I can fix a plane, I can fix a car.

In September, I will start my Aircraft Maintenance Engineering degree at the University of South Wales for three years. Afterwards, I will complete a further two years of practical training in the UK, then move to serve in an MAF programme overseas.

Would you prayerfully consider joining their support team?
