Meet Buoi Gor, a mother with two malaria-stricken children.

‘The reason I am here and came to the hospital is that my children are sick with malaria. It has made me worried. If this hospital was not here, then we wouldn’t have anywhere else to go for treatments. But since it is existing, I am so happy.

‘At this hospital there is medicines for my children, so I am so happy about this hospital. ‘I was worried for where I would have to go for the treatment. I could have gone to far places searching for treatment.’

I am so happy to the people who bought medicines, the people who made this hospital here and the plane that brings the medicines to us. Much appreciations to them. I am also so happy to God as well. Thank you’.

Mothers, like Buoi Gor, carry their children for hours on foot to reach Noah’s Place Mission Hospital—one of the only hospitals in Tonj, South Sudan they trust to have life-saving medicine. Joseph Maker, Clinical Officer and Medical Director of Noah’s Place, leads a small team who can serve hundreds of patients in a single day. ‘Last year, we saw 62,000 patients and two-thirds of these patients were suffering from malaria. And we tried to give help to them.’ explains Dr Maker.

The wet season is coming…

In the wet season, malaria spreads rapidly. Patients at Noah’s Place can go from hundreds to thousands in just one month. Stagnant water from rain makes more breeding places available for mosquitoes, subsequently putting more children at risk.

When hospital waiting rooms are overflowing, every minute counts. Donate today to ensure Noah’s Place has enough malaria medicine and children don’t miss out on the help they need.

‘For your donation, you’re going to make a lifesaving donation. And that could really help a lot of people. Thank you for your help.’

‘Malaria is a parasitic infection carried by mosquitos. It can come with a headache, fever, joint pain, chills and diarrhoea. If it develops, it can cause severe organ dysfunction and failure. If the parasite goes to the brain, it can cause brain damage, and the patient could die instantly.’ Dr Maker continues. ‘But with a quick intervention, by testing and diagnosing it on right on time, and preventing it as well, it can lead to a good outcome.’

When time is running out, the isolated people of Tonj rely on Noah’s Mission Hospital to have the medicine they need. When their waiting rooms are overflowing with patients, Noah’s Place relies on MAF for the supplies to meet demand.
