Isolation Trial

Date: 4-6 September 2026

Arrival and departure location: Glasgow

Push your limits and test your resourcefulness as you navigate your way from ‘isolation’ to a mystery location and experience some of the barriers that the people MAF serves must overcome on a daily basis.
Make a bunch of new friends as you join 11 other Co-Pilot-ers for an adventure in the wilds of Scotland, where you’ll experience real geographical isolation and its associated challenges. Your kit and food will be basic, in solidarity with those MAF serves. It’ll be two nights away (one night in a bothy and one night wild camping under tarpaulin) with team building challenges to overcome along the way. You’ll test your resourcefulness as you use or learn orienteering and survival skills. Participants will meet in Glasgow, journey together as a team to an unknown destination by train, and begin the trial from there. We’ll provide support to help you raise a minimum of £1,000 prior to the event. Successful applicants will need to be willing to regularly share their journey of training and support raising with MAF supporters via social media. We’ll support you in this and encourage you as you go along. These places are precious, so we want to make sure we select the best Co-Pilot-ers for MAF – people who’ll make the most of this opportunity to raise awareness and fundraise for MAF. Please email co-pilot@maf-uk.org to express your interest.
