Brighton Marathon 2026

Ever fancied the challenge of running 26.2 miles / 42km? Our three resolute runners will soon enter an exclusive club of less than 1% of the population who have run a marathon!

Partaking in the prestigious Brighton Marathon on April 12, 2026 – the UK’s third largest – they’ll be joining over 12,500 others taking on this massive challenge amidst the relaxed seaside vibes of the city. And all to raise much needed funds! Every mile they run will help to fuel life-saving flights with MAF UK!

Meet our first-time-marathon trio:

Gareth

Hi there! My name’s Gareth and I’m originally from Essex but have recently moved down to West Sussex! I work in Air Traffic Control at Gatwick Airport and have loved aviation since I was 12 years old. I’ve known about MAF’s work from the in-person talks they brought to the churches I have attended and am proud to be supporting them by raising money and awareness joining the Marathon team. I have started from zero in terms of running ability, so it is a challenge to run a marathon within 6 months but I’m looking forward to the challenge.

Amy Joy

Hi, I’m Amy Joy! I’m originally from Cornwall, and currently studying Landscape Architecture. I love being outdoors and spend most of my free time fishing, bouldering, or finding excuses to be outside. That said, a marathon is a very different beast. I’m used to running, just not that far, so this will be my first attempt at the full 26.2 miles. I’m taking on the challenge to raise awareness for MAF and the incredible work they do. It’s definitely a step beyond my comfort zone, but combining a big challenge with a great cause feels like the reason to give it a go!

Ben

Hello, I’m Ben! I’m a youth worker in Reading & love working with young people, helping them overcome challenges and living a more fulfilling life! I’m also someone who is a bit competitive, so the idea of running a marathon is really exciting for me – however since starting to train for it I have realised how difficult a challenge it is! Running it for MAF makes it a worthwhile challenge, especially as they work with and help so many who have much harder challenges in life than simply running 42k.

Applications are closed for this year but if you’re interested in running for MAF in future years, please fill out the form below.
