Our Story

At Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) we believe that that every person, however remote, should have the essentials for life. We, fly our light aircraft to transform the lives of the world’s most isolated. Every six minutes, a MAF aircraft is taking off or landing somewhere in the world. Each flight assists missions, Churches, aid and development agencies and other civil society organisations get help where it is most needed.

From humble beginnings

As a key part of our international organisation, MAF in the UK connects our vital work, to supporters throughout the UK, highlighting the needs of the people we serve and the impact that our work achieves.

We specifically serve together to raise the finances needed to run our programmes overseas, recruit staff for service in our international programmes and engage with Churches and individuals to encourage them to pray for our work.

Our Identity

We are a Christian organisation founded to take the good news and love of God, in word and deed, to the most isolated places on the planet. Our Christian identity is not incidental, and our Statement of Belief forms the basis for our values, culture, and practice.

We are a fellowship which refers to our unity found in the gospel, it relates to an intimacy and relationship built on a common faith, purpose, and prayer. Our culture and ethos are Christian and are essential building blocks to our community of shared faith.

We pray together as teams and share corporate worship and prayer moments where staff at all levels lead in prayer and Bible reflection. Around our offices, you’ll often come across teams praying over their work and speaking the language of faith.

About MAF UK

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is the world’s largest humanitarian air operator. For over 75 years we have been flying light aircraft over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts. We enable more than 1,400 aid, development and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief and long-term development. Our pilots and personnel deliver relief workers, doctors, pastors, school books, food, medicines - everything that can only be safely and speedily delivered by air. Our faithful supporters give and pray to make this all possible.
